Ewen MacDonald
10-Jul-1932 – 27-May-2021

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of our friend Ewen MacDonald. Aside from his many other accomplishments and love for his family he was also for many years an important member of Georgetown Highland Games Committee. Ewen was on our committee for decades and also served as the president. He and his wife Betty were always the first at the fairgrounds in their camper van and usually the last to leave. Even in his 70’s and 80’s Ewen was in charge of the field setup which he ran as an ex-soldier and police officer, with precision and efficiency. His dry wit, laughter and jokes will not be forgotten. His absence has been felt deeply by the committee and we will forever miss our friend. Our condolences go out to the family. At ease now soldier, at ease… The 2021 Georgetown Highland Games Committee

Covid 19 statement Georgetown Highland Games 2021

To our dear spectators, contestants, sponsors, and vendors:

The committee members of the 2021 Georgetown Highland Games have unanimously made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s games scheduled for June 12th, 2021. We care about the people who enjoy our games year after year, and want to act responsibly and with full compliance in order to support everyone’s health and safety throughout these unprecedented times.

We look forward to continuing our tradition next year on June 11th, 2022 and hope that once again you will join us to celebrate.

Adrian Miller
President GHGC

It was with a heavy heart that the 45th Georgetown Highland Games had to be cancelled due to the Covid 19 Pandemic. Despite these unprecedented times, the committee was still able to rally and support their community. Treasurer, Gary Cunningham, is shown providing a $ 1,000 donation to the Acton Food share.  Gary and Director of Concessions , Tim Dixon, are shown providing a $ 1,000 donation to the Georgetown Bread Basket.  The Highland Games Committee is already planning for next year’s event on June 12th  and hopes everyone can come out to help celebrate.
